Fillings

Although we’re all susceptible to cavities, they can be prevented with a home care regimen that includes regular brushing at least twice daily and flossing once daily. At Oak Tree Dental we provide several types of fillings, namely tooth-colored composite fillings, silver-colored fillings, and cast –gold fillings.

What are cavities?

When acid erodes with tooth enamel it causes the tooth to decay. This in turn causes a cavity which can lead to infection and further decay which weaken the tooth and lead to pain and tooth loss.

While most are familiar with just decay on the enamel crown of a tooth, there can also be decay in the root cavity or recurrent decay.

It is for this reason that good home care and bi-annual checkups and oral hygiene care are highly recommended. In this way we can monitor potential problem areas and catch and repair small cavities before they become larger and result in more extensive, expensive damage. Additionally, brushing for two minutes twice daily, flossing once and having a balanced diet are also recommended.
