Although we’re all susceptible to cavities, they can be effectively prevented with a home care regimen that includes regular brushing at least twice daily and flossing once a day. At Oak Tree Dental, we offer a variety of dental services, including tooth-colored fillings, silver-colored fillings, and cast-gold fillings.
What are cavities?
Cavities occur when acid erodes tooth enamel, leading to decay. This decay results in a cavity, which can cause infection, further decay, and ultimately weaken the tooth, potentially leading to pain and tooth loss. While most people are aware of decay affecting the enamel crown of a tooth, it’s important to note that decay can also occur in the root cavity or manifest as recurrent decay.
For this reason, maintaining good home care and attending bi-annual checkups for oral hygiene are highly recommended. This allows us to monitor potential problem areas and treat small cavities before they develop into larger, more expensive issues. Additionally, brushing for two minutes twice daily, flossing once, and following a balanced diet are crucial for optimal dental health.
